Festival Rules
Help us keep King’s Grove safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.
These rules apply to all visitors, ticket holders, participants, traders, performers, contractors, volunteers, and guests attending EMF - King’s Grove Festival. By entering the festival site, you agree to follow the instructions of festival staff, security, stewards, and site management.
EMF - King’s Grove is a family-friendly outdoor event held in a natural countryside setting. Please respect the site, other visitors, our team, traders, performers, re-enactors, animals, and the wider festival community.
1. Entry & Wristbands
- All visitors must hold a valid ticket or authorised pass.
- Wristbands must be worn and kept secure for the duration of your visit.
- Lost, damaged, removed, or transferred wristbands may not be replaced.
- Festival staff may refuse entry where a ticket, wristband, or pass is invalid or cannot be verified.
2. Behaviour & Respect
- Abusive, aggressive, threatening, discriminatory, or anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
- Harassment, intimidation, unwanted physical contact, or inappropriate conduct toward visitors, staff, performers, traders, or participants may result in removal from the site.
- Please respect queues, viewing areas, performers, re-enactors, traders, and other visitors.
- The festival reserves the right to refuse entry or remove anyone whose behaviour is considered unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate.
3. Safety & Security
- Professional security and stewards are present to support safety across the festival site.
- Bag checks may be carried out on entry or at any time during the event.
- Please report concerns, hazards, lost children, medical issues, or suspicious behaviour to a steward or member of staff.
- Visitors must follow all safety signage and instructions from festival staff, security, stewards, first aid, and emergency services.
4. Prohibited Items
The following items are not permitted unless specifically authorised by the festival:
- Real weapons, sharp blades, live steel, functional firearms, or dangerous items.
- Fireworks, flares, smoke bombs, explosives, or pyrotechnics.
- Drones or remote-controlled aerial devices.
- Illegal substances or drug paraphernalia.
- Glass bottles or glass containers.
- Generators, open flames, or unauthorised cooking equipment.
- Large sound systems or amplified music equipment.
- Any item considered unsafe, disruptive, or unsuitable by festival staff or security.
5. Costume Weapons, LARP Props & Cosplay Items
- Costumes, fantasy dress, historical clothing, cosplay, and LARP-inspired outfits are welcome.
- All costume weapons and props must be safe, blunt, non-functional, and suitable for a family-friendly public event.
- No sharps, live steel, functional firearms, or unsafe weapon replicas are permitted.
- LARP and cosplay props must be LARP-safe and not capable of causing injury.
- Festival staff and security have the final decision on whether an item may remain onsite.
6. Alcohol, Drugs & Intoxication
- Alcohol may only be consumed in permitted areas and in accordance with licensing rules.
- Visitors must not bring alcohol into the main festival arena unless expressly permitted.
- Illegal drugs are strictly prohibited.
- Anyone who appears intoxicated, unsafe, aggressive, or unable to behave responsibly may be refused service, refused entry, or removed from the site.
7. Dogs & Animals
- Well-behaved dogs are welcome in permitted areas and must be kept on a lead at all times.
- Owners are responsible for their dog’s behaviour, welfare, hydration, and cleaning up after them.
- Dogs may not be suitable for all areas, performances, crowds, or loud activities.
- Assistance dogs are welcome.
- No other animals may be brought onsite without prior permission.
8. Children & Young People
- Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
- Parents and guardians are responsible for the safety and behaviour of children in their care.
- Please agree a meeting point with your group in case anyone becomes separated.
- If a child is lost or separated, contact the nearest steward, security staff, or Festival Information point immediately.
9. Camping & Live-In Vehicles
- Camping is only permitted with the correct camping ticket or authorised pass.
- Camping wristbands must be worn and shown when requested.
- Vehicles must be parked only in designated areas.
- Cars are not permitted beside tents unless expressly authorised.
- Live-in vehicles must have the correct booking and must park only in the designated live-in vehicle area.
- Quiet and family camping areas should be respected.
10. Fires, BBQs & Cooking
- Open fires are not permitted unless part of an authorised festival activity.
- BBQs, cooking equipment, and fire pits may only be used where permitted and in accordance with festival guidance.
- Cooking must never take place inside tents or enclosed sleeping areas.
- Any unsafe cooking, fire, or flame activity may be stopped immediately by festival staff.
11. Photography, Filming & Drones
- Personal photography and video are welcome, provided they are respectful and do not obstruct performances or visitors.
- Commercial photography, press access, professional filming, and creator access will require prior approval.
- Drones are not permitted without written approval from the festival and relevant site permissions.
- By attending the festival, visitors acknowledge that photography and filming may take place for promotional, media, archival, and security purposes.
12. Traders, Performers & Participants
- Only authorised traders, performers, re-enactors, activity providers, and participants may operate onsite.
- Participants must follow their booking terms, site rules, set-up instructions, safety requirements, and insurance obligations.
- Unauthorised selling, flyering, leafleting, promotion, or trading is not permitted.
13. Site, Environment & Waste
- Please respect the countryside setting and help us protect the festival site.
- Use the bins and recycling points provided.
- Do not damage trees, fencing, signage, displays, tents, structures, heritage features, or wildlife areas.
- Leave no trace when leaving the site, campsite, or parking areas.
14. Weather & Ground Conditions
- The festival is an outdoor event and usually runs rain or shine.
- Ground conditions may be uneven, muddy, dusty, slippery, or weather-dependent.
- Visitors should wear suitable footwear and clothing for an outdoor countryside event.
- In extreme weather or safety situations, areas, activities, timings, or access routes may be changed.
15. Programme Changes
- Shows, activities, traders, performers, timings, areas, and attractions may be subject to change.
- Changes may be made for weather, safety, operational, performer availability, or other reasons beyond our control.
- The festival will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant updates where practical.
16. Refusal of Entry or Removal
The festival reserves the right to refuse entry, remove individuals, revoke wristbands, or prevent re-entry where necessary for safety, security, welfare, licensing, operational, or behavioural reasons. Refunds are not guaranteed where removal is due to breach of festival rules.
17. Emergencies & First Aid
- First Aid is available onsite.
- In an emergency, contact the nearest steward, security team member, or festival staff member immediately.
- Please follow all instructions from emergency services, first aid, stewards, and festival staff.
